04.06.12 Yoshi Sodeoka: New Video + Audio/Video Collective, Plink Flojd
Yoshi is back with a new video formed under the collective moniker, Plink Fljod. Plink Flojd is a super audio/visual collective started by David Quiles Guillo with co-founders Yoshi Sodeoka and Eric Mast AKA E*Rock. The collective is comprised of artists from all over the world and will be premiering their first installment of videos at NOVA®, in São Paulo, Brazil, in the spring of 2012.
The video above, entitled, One of These Days, I'm Going to Cut Your Film Into Little Pieces, is a psychedelic homage to the film "Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii" directed by Adrian Maben.
03.22.12 Yoshi Sodeoka: New Video Commission by Dazed & Confused + Ch. 4
The new piece, entitled: A Wind God’s Passage to the Funeral Game is a component of a longer video work (created in collaboration with composer Daron Murphy), called Sibyl, to be released later this year. Commissioned by Dazed & Confused and Channel 4 UK.
Passage captures the immersive, primordial experience of ancient prophecy and brings it to our present day, where imagination manifests in pixels and binary code, the purity of the natural world has been compromised, and magic has been made literal by technology. As Passage progresses, geometric forms move through space, like otherworldly calibrating devices, working to correct humanity’s violence against nature. We are taken into a dreamlike escape from the dread of a polluted Earth, where even apocalyptic events can yield visions of hope.
Characterized as both extremely loud and patiently subtle, as both sonically intense and emotionally powerful, Daniel Menche's performances are works which realize their own sonic presence, entities that give form to an emotional rawness with highly textural and dominating sounds. With well over 60 albums, Portland, OR based Menche has amassed an ever-growing body of work released through some of the most discerning and respected independent labels in the world. Daniel Menche continues his extensive live performances throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
The event will have a performance by Menche, followed by a lecture on his work. As part of an ongoing group exhibition, REMAINS IN THE END TIMES, the rest of the show will be available for viewing. Patrons will be are welcome to experience the show for the remainder of the evening.

Remains in the End Times, held in a city notorious for devastating earthquakes and the pioneering of early psychedelia, presents a paradigm of apocalyptic hallucinations and "tech-gnosis" contrasting modernity with ruination. The show title, partially derived from Slavoj Žižek's 2010 opus Living in the End Times, expands the proposition that there is no pending big bang, no End of Days — on the contrary, society is already immersed in this so-called Doomsday. As a result, a slow transformation has drifted us into a world where smog-ridden skies became the most beautiful sunsets imaginable and the white noise of a television lulls us to sleep at night.
Utilizing disposable technology, deteriorated media, and derelict landscapes as a conceptual foundation, these artists have transformed ruination into mature experiential works that unearth a new psychedelia. Rather than illustrating drug experiences, as in the case of hypnotic works of the 1960s, these works mesmerize and overwhelm the senses by way of reshaping the entropy and chaos of techno-inundated modern life — both helping us escaping our reality while firmly planting ourselves in it.
